Once you have gone through the microblading procedure, the most important thing to practice is microblading aftercare.
Microblading involves tiny cuts to the brow line, therefore we must treat it as we would any other cut on our body.
Microblading Aftercare Steps
Microblading Aftercare is similar to tattoo aftercare, but has more steps involved. After your procedure is complete you will need to stick to the following steps:
2-Hours after the procedure take a cotton swab dipped in sterilized water to remove any excess dye and keep the brows clean. During the first week:
Keep brows away from any water, this includes shower mist.
Avoid wearing makeup.
Keep your hair away from your browline.
It is essential to try and keep any foreign liquids and debris from entering the fresh cuts on your face, including sweat. What you should not do after microblading is go to saunas, workouts that cause excess sweating, and swimming in any kind of water.
After a week your brows will start to scab up and peel, do NOT peel or pick at them as this will cause the pigment to come out.
Microblading Aftercare for Oily Skin
Oily skin is much more hydrated than normal or dry skin. This causes them to heal slightly differently. The brush strokes won't be as defined and crisp as other skin types, leaving the strokes looking more wide and blurry.
Thankfully this can be fixed by a skilled technician. The technician will spread out and reduce the number of lines in the first procedure. Then at touch ups, they can assess how your skin takes pigment and add more lines based upon that. This keeps the brows from looking blurry.
Microblading on oily skin lasts around 18 months. As compared to dry skin lasting 3 years with one or two touch ups. More frequent touch ups are needed to extend the time they will last on oily skin. Unfortunately there is no other remedy for the longevity of the brows.
Best Ointment for Microblading Aftercare?
This question first depends on your skin type, oily or dry.
For dry skin the best ointment is petroleum based. Skin Candy sold by Phi Supplies is for use immediately after and for 7 days after your procedure. Brows Eyes Lips sold on amazon is another ointment meant for immediate use.
For everyday care use Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration by First Aid Beauty. It will help your skin stay hydrated and supple.
For oily skin there are two methods of healing. First is the dry method, this involves cleaning the brows without using any kind of ointment afterwards. It is generally the preferred method.
Second is wet healing in which ointment is used to keep the brows moist using the above products. Listen to your technician’s advice on the method that is best for you.
Microblading Recovery Time
Generally it takes 25-30 days starting from procedure day. This heavily depends how old you are, your body’s regeneration speed, and overall health. For the first 14 days your new brows will vary in:
Color
Definition
Texture
This is normal in the microblading healing process. It's also important to mention the type of sensations you feel during this time. At first, your face will feel very tender, tight, and painful. This then turns into itchiness and flaking which will eventually subsides.
Microblading Touch-up Aftercare Instructions
After 18 to 30 months you’ll need to have a touch-up done. The procedure is shorter than your initial session. It will only take 20 minutes to an hour for your technician to fill in your brows depending on how much of a perfectionist they are.
The aftercare for your touch-up will also be shorter than your original healing time. It will only take five to seven days for your brows to heal, still depending on the attributes mentioned in the Microblading Recovery Time section.
Can I wear Makeup After Microblading?
The short answer is no. The long answer is the makeup will enter into the tiny cuts causing infection leading to scabbing and puss. You must wait until the entire healing process is finished to wear makeup on your browline. The best microblading aftercare advice is to follow the healing process and listen to your technician.
